A roar from the north and look what makes a high speed pass.
This is a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, also known as the "Buff".
The B-52 first flew more than 50 years ago and is planned to remain
in active service for at least another 30 years. Personally, I think the
B-52 is one of the most menacing looking airplanes around, topped
perhaps by the AC-130 Specter gun-ship.
The flyby runway (18/36) parallels the
Homebuilt/Showplane/Antique areas so one is never far away from the flying
action when in those areas, and there is flying action from 7 AM to 8 PM every
day.
